The Quarry Golf Club in Canton, Ohio, opened in 2001 and was designed by Brian Huntley, a Cleveland-based architect known for his work throughout the Midwest. The course takes its name from the property's former use as a limestone quarry, and this industrial past shapes much of the routing and character. The layout incorporates dramatic elevation changes, exposed rock faces, and water features that occupy the old quarry pits, creating a distinctive topography uncommon in northeastern Ohio's generally rolling terrain. The front nine plays through more traditional parkland settings with mature trees and conventional hole corridors, while the back nine descends into and around the former quarry excavation. Several holes feature tee shots or approach shots played over water to greens framed by sheer rock walls and steep slopes. The contrast between the two nines gives the round a distinct shift in character at the turn. The quarry holes require accurate club selection and course management, as the elevation changes and forced carries leave little margin for error. The facility operates as a daily-fee course and serves the Canton-Akron metropolitan area. The clubhouse sits above the quarry basin and provides views of the more dramatic holes on the back nine. The Quarry represents an example of adaptive reuse in golf design, transforming industrial land into a recreational amenity with terrain features that would be difficult to replicate through conventional earthmoving.
