Swinomish Golf Links

Swinomish Golf Links occupies land on the Swinomish Indian Reservation near Anacortes in northwestern Washington, positioned along the shores of Padilla Bay with views across the water toward the San Juan Islands and the Cascade Range. Rod Turner designed the course, which opened in the late 1990s as part of the tribe's economic development efforts. The layout takes advantage of the coastal setting, with prevailing winds from the water influencing play throughout the round. The routing moves across relatively flat terrain characteristic of the Skagit Valley delta region, with the proximity to Padilla Bay creating both scenic backdrops and strategic wind considerations. Several holes play directly along or toward the waterfront, while others turn inland through more sheltered corridors. The design incorporates native grasses and wetland areas that reflect the local ecosystem, and the open, links-style presentation allows the wind to factor into club selection and shot shaping on most holes. The course serves both tribal members and public visitors, functioning as a community amenity as well as a destination for golfers exploring the northern Puget Sound region. Its location between the agricultural Skagit Valley and the recreational islands makes it a stopping point for travelers heading to the San Juans via the Anacortes ferry terminal. The facility includes a clubhouse with dining that overlooks the course and bay beyond.
