Great experience! Been trying to get out here for a while now. Peace of play was slow at first but picked up after Nine. Seeing the Bison was the most interesting part. A lot of the pin locations were diabolically challenging. I wish I played back further.
This is one of my favorite public courses in the Cincinnati area and one I always try to play once a year with my dad and brothers. From the moment you pull in, everything feels top-tier for a public course. The entrance and landscaping are beautiful, the staff is always friendly, and the clubhouse and food are fantastic — they make great drinks and the hot dogs are out of this world good. The practice areas really stand out here. A short drive away from the clubhouse, you’ve got a great range and short-game area, plus a big putting green right next to the first tee. The course itself is always in great shape — the fairways and bunkers are consistently solid, and the greens roll quick and true for a public course. The only thing that can be hit or miss are the tee boxes, just because this place gets so much play during the season. Here’s one of those extra pieces that gives Stonelick its character: The course was opened in 2004 and was designed and is still owned by Jeff Osterfeld — yes, the same guy who founded the sandwich-chain brand Penn Station East Coast Subs. He built Stonelick not just as a business but as a passion project — designing every hole, deciding bunkers, tree placement, and landscaping — and he continues to tweak and invest back into the property.That back-story really adds a little extra flavor to the round. My only real complaint is the pace of play. The price has gone up over the years, and the tee sheet tends to get packed. Each year we go back, the rounds seem to get slower, which is disappointing at a course this nice. That said, the layout is awesome. It’s such a fun course to play with a mix of challenging and scenic holes throughout. The design gives you variety and good visuals, and it’s built for enjoyment while still demanding thoughtful shots. Oh, and you can’t forget the buffalo on the first hole — such a cool touch and an awesome logo for the course. Overall, Stonelick Hills continues to be one of the best public golf experiences around. Great layout, awesome atmosphere, and top-notch conditions — I just wish the pace matched the quality.
One of the best courses in Cincinnati area. Half private/public. Two island par 5’s that dare you to go for it. Highly recommend if you’re in the area
