Stonehouse is one of three courses at Temecula Creek Inn Golf Resort, located in Southern California's wine country approximately 60 miles north of San Diego and 90 miles southeast of Los Angeles. The course was designed by Ted Robinson Sr. and Dick Rossen, opening in the late 1960s as part of the resort's original development. Robinson, known for incorporating water features throughout his designs, brought his signature style to this layout set among the rolling terrain of the Temecula Valley. The course takes its name from the historic Stonehouse Tavern, a structure dating to the 1800s that serves as a landmark on the property. The routing works through oak-studded hillsides and features elevation changes that provide views of the surrounding wine country and distant mountains. Water comes into play on several holes, reflecting Robinson's design philosophy, while the natural topography creates variety in stance and shot requirements throughout the round. Stonehouse shares the resort property with two other eighteen-hole courses—Oaks and Creek—giving the facility 54 holes total. The Temecula area's Mediterranean climate allows for year-round golf, and the region's growth as a wine destination has made the resort a popular stop for visitors combining golf with vineyard tours. The course serves both resort guests and outside play, fitting into the broader recreational character of Temecula Valley's tourism economy.
