Stonebridge Golf Links & Country Club

Stonebridge at Smithtown is a testament to a distinctly American vision of parkland golf, a deliberate rejection of the windswept links found further east on Long Island. Crafted in an era when bold earthmoving defined course construction, the fairways unfurl across a landscape sculpted to challenge and entertain. The generous landing areas are deceiving, often feeding into strategically placed bunkers that penalize imprecision. Doglegs test shot-shaping ability, rewarding players who can confidently move the ball in either direction. The original design bears the hallmark of renowned architect, Bobby Cupp, whose influence helped shape the course’s playability and routing. More recently, a subtle but significant renovation project, overseen by a former Cupp associate, sharpened the greens complexes. While Stonebridge hasn't hosted any of golf’s major championships, it serves as a popular course for both amateur tournaments and a venue for local charitable events in the Smithtown community. Stonebridge is a well-regarded club attracting an active and largely local membership known for their camaraderie and support of junior golf initiatives in the area. The club’s sizable halfway house, a favorite gathering spot after the ninth hole, is celebrated for its lobster rolls, a Long Island specialty that has become a signature offering.
