Spring Valley Golf Club sits in the high plains country east of Denver, near the small town of Elizabeth in Elbert County. The course occupies rolling terrain characteristic of Colorado's Front Range transition zone, where the Great Plains begin their gradual rise toward the Rocky Mountains. At an elevation above 6,000 feet, the property experiences the region's dramatic weather shifts and persistent winds that influence play throughout the season. Ross Graves designed the layout to work with the natural contours of the land, routing holes through native grasses and stands of ponderosa pine. The design reflects a straightforward approach common to Colorado daily-fee and semi-private courses built in recent decades, emphasizing playability for a range of skill levels while incorporating the challenges posed by elevation, wind, and firm conditions typical of the high plains climate.
