The Valley Club

The Valley Club's South/West combination occupies high-desert terrain in the Wood River Valley near Sun Valley, where Tom Fazio routed thirty-six holes across sagebrush-covered land with views toward the Pioneer Mountains. Fazio completed the course in the late 1990s during a period when he was designing several private clubs in mountain resort communities. The property sits at approximately 5,300 feet elevation, and the routing takes advantage of natural elevation changes and existing landforms while incorporating water features and strategic bunkering characteristic of Fazio's design approach. The South and West nines combine to form one of three eighteen-hole configurations available at the club, with the other nines being the North and East. The layout moves through open terrain where native grasses and sage frame fairways, and several holes play along or across water. The combination presents variety in hole direction and length, with par-3s that test club selection in the high-altitude conditions and longer holes that stretch across the valley floor. Fazio's shaping creates definition and visual interest while maintaining playability for the membership. The Valley Club serves a private membership drawn largely from the Sun Valley area's seasonal and year-round residents. The club operates during the warmer months when Idaho's mountain climate permits golf, typically from late spring through early fall. The facility includes practice areas and a clubhouse that overlooks the course and surrounding valley landscape.
