SilverTip sits high in the Canadian Rockies just outside Canmore, Alberta, occupying dramatic terrain at elevations reaching above 5,000 feet. Les Furber designed the course in the late 1990s, routing it across a mountainside with significant elevation changes and natural rock outcroppings throughout. The property offers expansive views of the surrounding peaks, including the Three Sisters and Mount Rundle, and the layout works through varied terrain that includes forested sections, open meadows, and exposed ridgelines. The routing makes full use of the topography, with several holes playing sharply uphill or downhill and others traversing sideslopes. The design incorporates the site's natural features—rock faces, stands of pine and spruce, and native grasses—rather than extensive earthmoving. Elevation changes affect club selection throughout the round, and the mountain setting means weather conditions can shift quickly. The course plays as a resort facility, with accommodations and dining available on-site. Furber, an Alberta-based architect, has designed numerous courses across Western Canada. At SilverTip, he created a layout that emphasizes the mountain environment while remaining playable for resort guests of varying abilities. The course has hosted regional amateur events and remains one of the higher-elevation golf facilities in Canada, with a season that typically runs from late spring through early fall depending on snowmelt and weather patterns.
