Shooting Star sits at the base of the Teton Range in Teton Village, Wyoming, designed by Tom Fazio and opened in 2009. The course occupies a dramatic mountain valley setting at approximately 6,200 feet elevation, with the jagged peaks of the Tetons forming a constant backdrop to the west. Fazio routed the eighteen holes across rolling terrain that includes natural wetlands, meadows, and stands of lodgepole pine and aspen, working to preserve the site's native character while creating strategic golf holes that take advantage of the elevation changes and mountain views. The design features Fazio's characteristic emphasis on playability from multiple tee sets, with generous fairway corridors balanced by well-positioned bunkers and water hazards that come into play on several holes. The routing moves through varied terrain, with some holes playing across open meadowland and others framed more tightly by trees and natural vegetation. The course measures over 7,500 yards from the back tees, though the high altitude affects ball flight and distance calculations throughout the round. Shooting Star operates as a private club with a limited membership, part of a residential development in Teton Village near Jackson Hole Mountain Resort.
