Serapong occupies the northern portion of Sentosa Island, a resort destination off Singapore's southern coast. Originally designed by Ron Fream and opened in 1982, the course underwent a significant redesign by Gene Bates in the early 2000s to prepare it for professional tournament play. The layout takes advantage of the island's natural elevation changes, with several holes routed along ridgelines that provide views across the South China Sea and back toward Singapore's skyline. The course features substantial elevation movement uncommon in the region, with holes playing both uphill and downhill through tropical vegetation. Water hazards appear throughout the routing, and the bunkering reflects modern strategic design principles following the Bates renovation. The greens are typically firm and fast by Southeast Asian standards, with subtle contours that reward precise approach play. Serapong serves as the primary championship venue at Sentosa Golf Club and has hosted the Singapore Open on multiple occasions since the mid-2000s, including years when the event was part of the Asian Tour and European Tour schedules. The course has also hosted the HSBC Women's World Championship, an LPGA Tour event, bringing international attention to the facility. Sentosa Golf Club operates as a private membership club but accommodates visiting golfers through various access programs. The clubhouse facilities reflect Singapore's position as a regional business and leisure hub, with dining and amenities designed to serve both local members and international guests. The club's second course, Tanjong, shares the island property and offers an alternative routing through similar terrain.
