Such a fun and cool vibe
This course rightfully is overshadowed by its more prestigious neighbors but stands on its own two feet nicely. Course has great holes in bunches, is immaculate, quiet, has views, and a great F&B program. Cabin experience was awesome. New money and I don’t mind it.
Such a fun play. Conditions are mint and the layout and greens make for some really fun shots. Obviously the stretch of 10-13 brings the most attention but the rest of the course is just as impressive. Also gotta note that the Caddies love being there and love working with the members. Halfway house is a treat too.
It takes a certain type of person to like Sebonack. That type of person has to be normal. Sebonack isn't your traditional top 100 golf course, it is quite the opposite. Many people hate the fact that Sebonack is a "new money" club. They don't like how it's placed between two of the most historic and prestigious golf courses in America. They don't like how carts are encouraged, music is allowed, and the members like to have fun. The experience at Sebonack starts before you even enter. You drive past Shinnecock and National en route to one of the coolest gates in golf. You then take a long drive up to the clubhouse which looks like it has been there forever and not the early 2000s, and it is placed on the highest point of the property. That was done on purpose, so members of Shinnecock and National would have the pleasure of looking over at the clubhouse any time they turned in that direction. The Nicklaus and Doak designed golf course is placed on maybe the best piece of land in the northeast US. The course is laid out throughout all different terrains. Some of it is along the water of the Peconic Bay, and other parts of the course are inland, winding in and out of trees. The course is more than playable. It always leads a super fun round, with its funky greens and fescue lined bunkers. I feel the best holes are 3 (long par 4), 7 (short par 4), 13 (inland par 5), and 18 (par 5 along the bay). Sebonack's most famous holes are 11, 12, and 18. All of these holes play along the water, with 11 giving you one of the better reveals on any golf course. The halfway house all-world. It is an entirely self service station filled with non-alcoholic beverages and any snack you could ever want. If you want drinks on the course, just let your caddies know, they'll call in an airstrike, and you'll be served in the special Sebonack branded cans. A day as at Sebonack is definitely polarizing. But if you can't appreciate it, you simply don't belong. It is such a fun experience and it never ever gets old.
