Cupp's design emphasizes strategic shot placement over length, though the course stretches beyond 7,000 yards from the championship tees. The finishing stretch includes holes that run near the river, providing views of Savannah's skyline and maritime traffic. Bermuda grass covers fairways and greens, typical for the region's climate. The course has hosted professional tournament golf, most notably serving as the venue for the Liberty Mutual Legends of Golf on the PGA Tour Champions from 2003 through 2010. This event brought notable senior tour players to the layout annually during that period. The club operates primarily as a resort facility, with access available to hotel guests and members, and maintains a year-round playing season given the area's mild winters.
