RUSH CREEK GOLF CLUB
🇺🇸 Maple Grove, MN, USA
Designed by Bob Cupp, John Fought
Rush Creek Golf Club opened in 1996 in Maple Grove, a northwestern suburb of Minneapolis. The course was designed by Bob Cupp and John Fought, both of whom worked extensively with Jack Nicklaus earlier in their careers before establishing independent practices. The property represents one of the more ambitious daily-fee projects built in the Twin Cities metro area during the 1990s golf boom.
The routing occupies rolling terrain with significant elevation changes uncommon for the region, incorporating natural wetlands, mature hardwood stands, and several creeks that influence play on multiple holes. Cupp and Fought shaped generous fairway corridors but protected greens with substantial bunkering and strategic mounding characteristic of their design philosophy. The course stretches over 7,000 yards from the back tees, with multiple teeing grounds accommodating different skill levels.
Rush Creek operates as a public facility and has hosted various Minnesota Golf Association championships and regional amateur events over the years. The layout's length and conditioning standards have made it a popular venue for competitive play in the state. The property includes a full practice facility and clubhouse amenities typical of upscale daily-fee operations.
The course sits within a developed suburban area but maintains a relatively secluded feel through tree corridors and thoughtful routing that limits residential intrusion on most holes. It remains one of the higher-profile public-access courses in the Minneapolis market.
Reviews
Corporate Club USA! They might have set the record for most corporate events hosted in the USA. Insane amount of play, greens get beat to a pulp because of this and the price is way too damn high for it to not get better conditions, yet I love the layout. Will play once a year, get disappointed by the worst driving range ever and watch my ball fly over a bunch of pitch marks on every putt, but that’s ok once a year.
Might need to play it more to get a better appreciation for it. Definitely good, but overhyped in my opinion.
Well conditioned, good challenge, some fun holes. Just not worth the price of admission at most rates
