Rio Secco Golf Club sits in the desert landscape southeast of Las Vegas in Henderson, Nevada. Designed by Rees Jones with Keith Evans and opened in 1997, the course was built on rugged terrain that features significant elevation changes and natural desert washes—"secco" refers to the dry arroyos that characterize the property. The routing takes advantage of the dramatic topography, with holes playing through canyons and along ridgelines that offer views of the Las Vegas Strip and surrounding mountains. The design emphasizes strategic shot-making over desert-style target golf. Jones incorporated wide fairways in many areas but protected them with bunkers and native desert vegetation that frames the holes. The greens are large and contoured, typical of Jones's work, requiring careful approach play and thoughtful putting. Water comes into play on several holes, a notable feature given the arid setting. The course stretches over 7,300 yards from the championship tees and presents a stern test for accomplished players while remaining playable from forward tees. Rio Secco served as the host venue for the Wendy's 3-Tour Challenge, an annual made-for-television event that featured players from the PGA Tour, LPGA Tour, and Champions Tour. The course also gained attention through its association with Tiger Woods, who used the facility for practice and course management development during his years working with Butch Harmon in Las Vegas. The club operates as a semi-private facility, offering public access alongside member play.
