Red Course
Bowling Green, FL, USA

Streamsong Red wasn’t carved from the earth; it was unearthed, a testament to the primordial landscape of central Florida’s phosphate mining region. Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw, masters of minimalist design, discovered its rolling dunes and dramatic elevation changes – a stark contrast to the state’s typically flat terrain – and crafted a course that feels both ancient and entirely novel. Expect strategic challenges rather than brute force requirements; the emphasis is on thoughtful shot-making and navigating the contours of the land, rewarding the imaginative golfer. This is a course that doesn’t favor any particular shot shape as much as it tests the players' judgement, decision making, and imagination. Red distinguishes itself from more manicured courses, allowing the native scrub and vegetation to define its character. Fairways are generous in width, yet strategically placed bunkers and subtle undulations demand precise approaches. It is a golf experience in central Florida that allows for both a visually stunning and thoughtful round. While not a tournament venue of national renown, Red fosters a culture of dedicated golfers who appreciate the purity of the game and the unique setting. Post-round, many gather to share stories over the resort's acclaimed dining, reflecting on the challenges of the day and the enduring allure of Streamsong's otherworldly landscape.

The journey to Streamsong Resort typically begins at Tampa International Airport, roughly an hour and a half east through Florida's pastoral interior, where the urban sprawl of the Gulf Coast gradually dissolves into cattle ranches, citrus groves, and open sky. Private arrivals land at Bartow Municipal Airport, a discreet gateway just twenty minutes from the property. The final stretch follows quiet two-lane roads that reveal little of what awaits - until the route turns onto Streamsong Drive and the land suddenly erupts into towering sand ridges and sculpted dunes, a startling geological drama rising from the flatness like a mirage made real.

Golfers say Red at Streamsong delivers a demanding yet playable test with strategic interest on every shot, particularly praising the accuracy required off the tee and the variety of excellent par threes. Most reviewers highlight the course's natural routing around the property's perimeter, offering constantly changing views across the unique, firm, Mars-like terrain, while noting the short-grass design makes hazards and runoffs less visually obvious than on the resort's other courses. Reviewers consistently mention top-notch conditioning, memorable holes, and quality service including strong caddy experiences, though some find it pricey and a few consider it less fun or engaging than Blue or Black. The consensus places Red among the best at Streamsong, with many calling it their favorite of the three full courses despite debate over which layout deserves that distinction.

Absolutely unbelievable course. Fucking stunning, and I loved it. My favorite of the Streamsong courses. Also the one where I played the best - shot an 89 on a very very difficult course. Shot of the day was a driver into the wind in on a Par 3 that was probably playing around 250 yards. Dad and Marty hit the green as well. I sunk my birdie putt. April 2025. Our caddie was Jhonnatan Vegas caddie on tour, he was awesome
Streamsong rocks! I have Red just behind Blue but it’s splitting hairs. Great set of par 3s. Caddies are a must.
Great course. Really demanding of good tee shots to avoid the water. Unfortunately got called for at hole 15 for lightening and wasn’t able to finish. Would definitely go back as everything was top notch.
really, really good course and experience as a whole
This is how I imagine golf on Mars, firm, windy, grainy, tough, but playable for everyone. I really see how they built this course into the land, everyone should take a trip down
From start to finish I found Red to be the least polarizing of the 3 on property. With the short grass everywhere, the runoffs are much less obvious from a distance compared to the bold features of Blue and the scale of Black. "Playability" tends to get overused when talking about golf courses but here there really is challenge from tee to green for all skill levels. Add into the mix the fact that you are playing around the outside of the property most of the time and you get consistently changing views for miles in all directions. Golf aside the course would be a fantastic nature walk (just keep distance from the tall grass and water on account of snakes/gators/bobcats)
Played Red & Blue. Scored better on Red so there is a bias. Both are great !
Red is a bit more extreme than the Blue with some elevation changes and a few short Par 5’s that are just the same distance as the long Par 4’s. Good par 3 variety. Blue probably a better design, but Red can be more fun.
My favorite of the 3 full courses at Streamsong. Great routing and mix of holes. In my opinion, has the most memorable holes of any of the courses. Great greens and enjoyable walk.
Lots of dissension on what the best course at Streamsong is. For my money. it's Red. Strategy on every shot. Fun greens. It's just a good time.
