Rattlesnake Ridge Course
Sunbury, OH, USA

Rattlesnake Ridge Golf Club sits in Sunbury, a small community in Delaware County north of Columbus, Ohio. The course was designed by Jodie Kinney, a regional architect who has worked on several layouts in the Midwest. The property occupies rolling terrain characteristic of central Ohio, where modest elevation changes and wooded corridors shape the playing experience. The routing takes advantage of the natural topography, with holes moving through a mix of open and tree-lined areas. Fairways typically follow the land's contours, and greens are positioned to incorporate the site's existing slopes and drainage patterns. Water features and bunkers provide strategic elements throughout the layout, though the design emphasizes playability for a range of skill levels rather than extreme difficulty. As a daily-fee facility in the Columbus metropolitan area, Rattlesnake Ridge serves both local golfers and visitors exploring courses in central Ohio. The club offers standard amenities including practice areas and a clubhouse with food and beverage service. The course fits within the regional golf landscape as an accessible option that reflects the straightforward design principles common to many Midwestern public courses from its era, focusing on solid fundamentals and integration with the natural setting rather than dramatic architectural statements.

The variety of shots you can choose to hit off of the tee box was such a treat. It wasn’t a matter of ripping driver every time, which I greatly enjoyed. I played here in the middle of a drought, so there were some burnt parts of the course. Probably more than normal. Overall, it was an enjoyable experience. Nothing that will knock your socks off. But it will also be a course that you could replay and not feel like you played the same course twice.
