Preserve Course
Nisswa, MN, USA

The Preserve at Grand View Lodge is a championship golf course in the Brainerd Lakes region of central Minnesota, designed by Joel Goldstrand and opened in 1999. The course occupies rolling, wooded terrain characteristic of Minnesota's north woods, with dense stands of pine, birch, and oak framing fairways carved through natural forest. Elevation changes are modest but meaningful in this glacially formed landscape, and the routing takes advantage of natural ridges and lowlands to create variety in shot values and visual interest. The layout measures over 6,900 yards from the championship tees and features generous fairway corridors balanced by strategic bunkering and water hazards that come into play on several holes. The design emphasizes playability for resort guests while maintaining challenge through green complexes that reward precision in approach shots. Several holes incorporate wetlands and natural water features native to the region, and the course maintains a naturalistic aesthetic that blends with the surrounding forest environment. Grand View Lodge is a historic Minnesota resort property dating to the early twentieth century, and The Preserve serves as the centerpiece of its golf offerings alongside the shorter Pines course. The facility caters to a mix of resort guests and local members, with a casual, family-friendly atmosphere typical of upper Midwest golf destinations. The course is walkable for those inclined, though most players use carts given the resort setting and summer heat.

Conditions have varied wildly over the several times I’ve played it. A good course that won’t beat you up. Among the best in the area.
Could probably be higher, I went two summers in a row and the greens had tons of winter kill. Without that it’d be rated much higher.
