Port Hope Golf & Country Club, a stalwart of the Port Hope landscape since its inception, represents a classic early 20th-century design with a community heart. Originally conceived by the esteemed British architect Nicol Thompson, Port Hope’s routing emphasizes playability and the natural contours of the land. Later refinements to the greens and bunkering added strategic depth and challenges for the modern player. While not a fixture on any professional circuit, Port Hope has long been known as a friendly haven for club golfers and a strong amateur membership. A fixture in the local golf scene, Port Hope retains a distinctly warm atmosphere. The club is rumored to have a small contingent of members that are descendants of founding members.
