Lincoln Hills Golf Club

The Orchard course at Lincoln Hills Golf Club is one of two eighteen-hole layouts at this active-adult community in the Sierra Nevada foothills northeast of Sacramento. Designed by Greg Nash and opened in the late 1990s, the course serves the residents of Sun City Lincoln Hills, a large retirement community developed by Del Webb. Nash, a Northern California-based architect, created a layout that works with the rolling terrain characteristic of this transitional zone between the Central Valley and the mountains. The routing moves through natural oak woodlands and open grassland areas, with elevation changes that provide variety in shot-making and strategic options. The design incorporates the native landscape, including mature oak trees that frame fairways and influence play on several holes. Water features appear on multiple holes, adding both visual interest and tactical considerations. The course is generally walkable despite the terrain, which aligns with the community's emphasis on active living for its residents. Lincoln Hills Golf Club operates as a semi-private facility, with the Orchard and its companion course, the Hills, serving primarily the community's members while also welcoming outside play. The club maintains a casual, accessible atmosphere suited to its demographic. The courses and clubhouse function as social and recreational anchors for the broader residential development, which has grown into one of the region's larger age-restricted communities since its establishment.
