Carlow Golf Club

Carlow Golf Club's Oakpark course sits in the townland of Deerpark just outside Carlow town in Ireland's southeast. The club was established in 1899, making it one of the older golf institutions in the region. Cecil Baracroft, an architect active in Irish golf course design during the early twentieth century, laid out the course. The layout occupies parkland terrain characteristic of inland Irish courses, with mature trees framing fairways and defining the playing corridors. The course measures around 6,000 yards from the back tees and presents a traditional parkland test. The routing makes use of the natural contours of the land, with several holes playing across gentle elevation changes. The greens are typically modest in size and protected by bunkers positioned to challenge approach play.
