North at Athens Country Club is where Georgia Bulldog legends honed their game and where generations of Athens families have embraced the camaraderie of the club. Routed across gently rolling terrain just outside the city, North presents a classic parkland challenge. Originally designed in the mid-20th century, the course has seen subtle refinements over the years, retaining its classic character. Known for its mature trees that line the fairways, North rewards strategic play and thoughtful approaches to well-guarded greens. Doglegs present tactical decisions off the tee, while subtly contoured putting surfaces demand a deft touch. While not a regular stop on professional tours, North has been the site of numerous state amateur events, testing the mettle of Georgia's top golfers. The club maintains a strong sense of local pride, its members deeply rooted in the Athens community. Post-round, the clubhouse buzzes with the easy laughter of familiar faces, often accompanied by the aroma of another Athens Country Club staple – their celebrated fried chicken. This is a place where golf is enjoyed, traditions are upheld, and the spirit of Athens is always in play.
