Hong Kong Golf Club

The New Course at Hong Kong Golf Club occupies the club's northern facility in Sheung Shui, near the border with mainland China. Designed by Edward Albert Ram with contributions from LS Green Hill, the course represents one of three championship layouts operated by Hong Kong Golf Club, alongside the older Eden and Old courses at the club's Fanling site. The New Course opened as part of the club's expansion to accommodate growing membership in one of Asia's most densely populated metropolitan areas. The layout sits on relatively flat terrain characteristic of the New Territories region, with the routing making use of the available land to create strategic interest through bunkering, water hazards, and green complexes rather than dramatic elevation changes. The course features tree-lined fairways and reflects a traditional parkland style adapted to Hong Kong's subtropical climate and seasonal weather patterns. Water comes into play on several holes, requiring careful course management. Hong Kong Golf Club maintains a long history dating to 1889, making it one of the oldest golf clubs in Asia outside of India. The club has hosted numerous regional amateur and professional events, serving as an important venue in the development of golf across Southeast Asia. The New Course functions as part of the club's commitment to providing quality golf for its membership while preserving the heritage and traditions established over more than a century of continuous operation.
