Hong Kong Golf Club

Deep Water Bay is one of three courses operated by the Hong Kong Golf Club, situated in Sheung Shui in the northern New Territories. The course was designed by Edward Albert Ram with contributions from LS Green Hill, part of the club's expansion beyond its original Fanling layout. The Hong Kong Golf Club, established in 1889, is one of Asia's oldest golf institutions, and Deep Water Bay reflects the club's commitment to providing varied golf experiences across its facilities in the region. The course occupies terrain characteristic of the New Territories, where the routing works with the natural topography of the area. Like many Hong Kong courses, the layout contends with the region's subtropical climate and the spatial constraints typical of development in the territory. The design incorporates the landscape features available in Sheung Shui, creating a course that serves both as a complement to the club's historic Fanling courses and as a distinct golfing experience within the Hong Kong Golf Club system. The Hong Kong Golf Club maintains a traditional membership structure and has long been central to golf in Hong Kong and the broader Asian region. The club has hosted numerous regional amateur and professional events over its history, contributing to the development of competitive golf in Asia. Members have access to all three courses, with Deep Water Bay providing an additional venue for regular play alongside the Old and New courses at Fanling.
