Metropolis Course
White Plains, NY, USA

Metropolis Country Club, nestled in the rolling hills of White Plains, stands as a testament to early 20th-century golf course design, reflecting a style more gentle than demanding. Characterized by subtly contoured fairways, and moderate green speeds, the course requires strategy over sheer length. Originally crafted in the Golden Age by the esteemed Herbert Strong, the course was later refined to add playability for the membership. The terrain, typical of Westchester County, presents a parkland layout with mature trees framing each hole. Metropolis favors players who can work the ball, offering opportunities for both high and low handicaps to enjoy a round with risk-reward decisions. The course is known for its challenging par 3s and well-guarded greens, calling for smart approach play over brute strength. While not a host to major championships, Metropolis enjoys a solid reputation among private clubs in the New York metropolitan area. It has long been a gathering place for prominent members of the New York business and legal communities, fostering a tradition of relaxed elegance both on and off the course. Post-round, many find themselves at the club's grill room enjoying a beverage and the club's famous clam chowder.

A very solid course in golf rich Westchester. Cool doglegs, some blind shots, some long, some short, interesting green complexes. Not the best course in the world but really good across the board.
