THE GREENBRIER AMERICA'S RESORT
🇺🇸 White Sulphur Springs, WV, USA
Designed by Bob Cupp, Dick Wilson

The Meadows course at The Greenbrier opened in 1977 as the resort's third championship layout, designed by Dick Wilson and completed by Bob Cupp following Wilson's death in 1965. The course was actually finished by Cupp in the mid-1970s based on Wilson's routing concepts, adding a modern complement to the resort's historic Old White course and the Snead Course. The layout occupies rolling terrain characteristic of the Allegheny Mountain region, with the course name reflecting its routing through open meadowland interspersed with mature hardwoods.
The Meadows plays as a traditional parkland design with generous fairways and large, undulating greens that require careful approach play. Water features prominently on several holes, and the course presents a more forgiving character than The Greenbrier's championship Old White layout, making it popular with resort guests seeking a less demanding round. The routing takes advantage of natural elevation changes while maintaining walkability across the property.
The course serves primarily as a resort amenity within The Greenbrier's extensive golf offerings, hosting member and guest play rather than professional tournaments. The layout reflects Wilson's design philosophy of strategic bunkering and green complexes that reward precision without excessive penal features. Like all Greenbrier courses, The Meadows benefits from the resort's tradition of meticulous conditioning and maintenance standards that have defined the property since the nineteenth century.
