Mariana Butte Golf Course

Mariana Butte Golf Course occupies a dramatic hillside site overlooking Loveland, Colorado, with views extending across the Front Range foothills toward the Continental Divide. Designed by Dick Phelps and opened in 1992, the course is a daily-fee municipal facility owned by the City of Loveland. The routing takes full advantage of the natural terrain, with significant elevation changes throughout the round that create a variety of playing angles and perspectives. The property's buttes and ridgelines give the course its name and define much of its character. The layout plays across rolling high-prairie terrain with native grasses, rock outcroppings, and scattered stands of trees framing many holes. Several holes climb or descend the hillside, requiring golfers to account for both elevation and the prevailing winds common to this exposed setting. The design incorporates strategic bunkering and water features on select holes, though the natural contours and forced carries over rugged ground provide much of the challenge. Sightlines from elevated tees offer expansive views of the surrounding landscape, including glimpses of Longs Peak and the northern Colorado Rockies. As a municipal course, Mariana Butte serves a broad range of golfers from the Loveland and Fort Collins area. The facility includes practice areas and a clubhouse positioned to take advantage of the scenic overlook.
