MAD RIVER GOLF COURSE
🇨🇦 Clearview, Ontario, CA
Designed by Bob Cupp

Mad River is a quintessential Georgian Bay golf experience, carved from the rolling hills north of Stayner, where mature hardwoods and dramatic elevation changes define its character. It's not links golf, nor is it a modern marvel, but a solid, unsung design.
Originally conceived by Rene Muylaert, a quiet figure in Canadian golf architecture, Mad River presents a stern, yet fair, test. Fairways generally offer generous landing areas, a boon given the prevailing winds that whistle off the bay. Subtle doglegs demand strategic thinking, and the elevated tees provide vistas that are pleasing and helpful. Don't be fooled by the forgiving fairways, the undulating greens require a deft touch.
While Mad River isn’t steeped in tournament history or clamorous reputation, it cultivates a loyal following among local golfers and those seeking a more tranquil experience away from the region's more celebrated courses. The 19th hole at Mad River is as much a part of the experience as the course itself. The atmosphere here is relaxed and welcoming, a place to reflect on the round over a pint and enjoy the simple camaraderie of the game.
