Los Verdes Course
Rancho Palos Verdes, CA, USA

Los Verdes, sculpted into the dramatic bluffs of Rancho Palos Verdes, presents a demanding test of golf with Pacific Ocean views from nearly every hole. Carved into the coastal landscape in the late 1960s, its design, while not attributed to a master architect, has matured into a compelling layout that favors strategic play over raw power, making it the perfect community-based golf course. The course's defining characteristic is its undulating terrain and windswept conditions. Wide fairways belie the challenges posed by strategically placed bunkers and the ever-present coastal breeze. While not known for hosting major championships, Los Verdes is valued for its accessibility and the integral role it plays in the local golfing community. The course sees significant play year-round thanks to the temperate Southern California climate. Los Verdes, a municipally owned course, provides an inviting atmosphere for golfers of all skill levels. The convivial clubhouse culture, paired with the undeniably stunning ocean vistas, contributes to the enduring appeal of this popular public course.

Golfers consistently praise the stunning ocean views as a standout feature, and several note the course offers excellent value for the price. Most find the layout fun and engaging, with tricky greens that add challenge to the round. However, pace of play emerges as a significant concern, with reviewers reporting frustratingly slow rounds that can stretch to six hours. Course conditioning appears variable, with at least one visitor catching it on an off day, and some mention that securing a tee time can be difficult.

great views
I caught it on a bad day I think, was told the conditions aren’t normally this poor. But can be really difficult to get a tee time and damn near a 6 hour round was horrendous. Views of the ocean though!!
Stunning views and great prices will get me to come back for sure. The greens are very tricky, overall a fun course and excellent value
Beautiful views. Painfully slow however.
