Joondalup Country Club

The Lake Course at Joondalup Country Club, located approximately 25 kilometers north of Perth's city center, opened in 1989 as a collaboration between Robert Trent Jones Sr. and his son Robert Trent Jones Jr. The design represents one of the few Australian projects bearing the Jones family name and reflects their characteristic approach to strategic, target-style golf. The course occupies land within the Yellagonga Regional Park, a protected wetland area that shapes much of the routing and playing experience. Water features prominently throughout the layout, with natural lakes and wetlands coming into play on numerous holes. The relatively flat terrain typical of Perth's coastal plain is enhanced by the Jones design philosophy of creating visual drama through bunkering, mounding, and the strategic use of water hazards. The course measures over 6,500 meters from the championship tees and presents a test that emphasizes accuracy and course management over raw distance, though length remains important on several holes. Joondalup Country Club operates as a semi-private facility, welcoming both members and visitors. The course has hosted various regional and state-level amateur competitions over the years, serving as a significant venue within Western Australia's golf landscape.
