KELLER GOLF COURSE
🇺🇸 Maplewood, MN, USA
Designed by Paul N. Coates

Keller Golf Course sits in Maplewood, a first-ring suburb immediately east of Saint Paul, Minnesota. Designed by Paul N. Coates and opened in 1929, the course was developed during the golden age of American golf course architecture and has served the Twin Cities metropolitan area for nearly a century. The property takes its name from the Keller family, who owned the land before it was transformed into a public golf facility. The course operates as a municipal layout and has long been accessible to a broad range of golfers in the region.
The routing occupies rolling terrain typical of the upper Midwest, with mature tree-lined fairways and modest elevation changes that add character to the holes. Coates incorporated natural features into the design, and the course has undergone periodic updates and maintenance improvements over the decades to preserve playability while respecting the original layout. The property provides a traditional parkland experience with tree corridors defining many holes and greens that require thoughtful approach play.
Keller has hosted competitive golf over the years, including Minnesota state amateur events and regional tournaments, reflecting its standing as a solid test of golf within the state's public course network. The facility includes practice areas and a clubhouse that serves daily-fee players and local golfers. Its location within the Twin Cities makes it a convenient option for residents seeking an established course with historical roots in the community.
Reviews
Elite city course, gettable but super well-kept and clean.
Great course, good condition for early in the year. Front is mostly right in front of you then the back demands some shot making. Held back by atrocious pace of play.
The best true city muni in the state of MN. Rich with history and a gorgeous layout. $55 is a steal. It isn’t long or difficult and the pace is horrid, but it’s a treat every time I play. Live by the tree die by the tree.
Played this one a few times this summer and like it more and more. Challenging but worth it.
It's a fun day at Keller. Definitely some quirks. Yes, there's a tree in the middle of a 125 yard par three but somehow, and I can't believe I'm saying this, it kind of works. That's true of the golf course in general.
+Tournament history +Unique architecture -Short and squeezed
One of the best muni’s in the state. Doesn’t get better than this as far as public tracks go in the Twin Cities
Great blast from the past. Hidden gem, major championship course.
The best value in Minnesota by far. Conditions are always perfect. It feels like a private country club while playing it. In fact, if it was private it would be one of the more sought after tee times. I will not tolerate any complaints about the par 3 4th with the tree directly in front of the green. Play better!
