Hayden Lake Country Club occupies a wooded setting along the western shore of Hayden Lake in northern Idaho's Panhandle region, roughly ten miles north of Coeur d'Alene. The course was designed by H. Chandler Egan and opened in 1926. Egan, who won the U.S. Amateur twice as a player and later became a respected architect in the Pacific Northwest, routed the layout through stands of ponderosa pine and fir with several holes running near the lakeshore. The property features moderate elevation changes and the natural contours of the terrain shape the playing corridors. The routing takes advantage of the lake views and forested character, with holes moving through tree-lined fairways that reward accuracy off the tee. The greens reflect Egan's design sensibilities from the period, with subtle internal contours and strategic bunkering that emphasizes approach play. Several holes play along or toward the water, integrating the lake into both the visual experience and strategic considerations. Hayden Lake Country Club operates as a private facility and has served the local membership for nearly a century. The club maintains a traditional country club atmosphere consistent with its origins in the 1920s, offering golf alongside other recreational amenities.
