Greystone Course
Sauk Centre, MN, USA

Greystone Golf Club sits in Sauk Centre, a small city in central Minnesota best known as the hometown of novelist Sinclair Lewis. The course was designed by Don Herfort and Kevin Norby, architects who have worked primarily in the Upper Midwest and are known for routing courses that work with existing landforms rather than imposing dramatic changes. Their approach typically emphasizes playability for a range of skill levels while incorporating natural features into the design. The property features rolling terrain characteristic of the glacial moraine landscape common to this part of Minnesota, with mature trees framing many holes and several water features coming into play. The routing takes advantage of elevation changes that are modest by national standards but significant for the region, offering variety in shot requirements and visual interest. Fairways generally provide room off the tee, though strategic bunkering and green complexes reward accurate approach play. Greystone serves as a daily-fee facility accessible to the public, fitting into the tradition of community-oriented golf in smaller Minnesota towns. The course provides a local option for regular play while also drawing visitors traveling through the region. Sauk Centre's location along Interstate 94 between the Twin Cities and Fargo makes it a convenient stop for golfers passing through central Minnesota's lake country.
Good Routing Bunkers in Poor condition It was hard to visualize holes - very few holes had 150 markers
Somewhat of a gem out in Sauk Centre. Can get a little spicy out there with some wind. Feels like a links a little bit when conditions are right (it’s not even close)
