Forest Oaks Course
Greensboro, NC, USA

Forest Oaks Country Club occupies rolling piedmont terrain in Greensboro, North Carolina. Ellis Maples designed the original layout, which opened in the 1960s and reflects his regional approach to routing courses through native hardwood corridors with moderate elevation change. The property features tree-lined fairways typical of North Carolina's interior, where dogwoods and oaks frame playing corridors and demand accuracy from the tee. The course has undergone several renovations over the decades. Davis Love III contributed design work, as did Clyde Johnston and Brad Bartell, who have both worked extensively on courses throughout the Carolinas. Fuzzy Zoeller, the two-time major champion, also participated in course modifications. These successive updates have modernized bunkering, green complexes, and overall conditioning while preserving the traditional parkland character established by Maples. Forest Oaks hosted the Greater Greensboro Open, a longstanding PGA Tour event, during the 1970s and early 1980s. The tournament brought professional golf to the club during an era when the Greensboro stop was a regular fixture on the tour calendar. The club maintains a private membership and serves as a traditional country club facility with golf, tennis, swimming, and dining amenities for members and their families in the Greensboro area.
