El Dorado Course
Boulder City, NV, USA

El Dorado at Boulder Creek Golf Club occupies desert terrain in Boulder City, Nevada, approximately thirty miles southeast of Las Vegas. Mark F. Rathert designed the course, which opened in the late 1990s as part of a residential development in this historic community originally built to house workers constructing Hoover Dam. The layout takes advantage of the natural desert topography, with elevation changes and native vegetation defining the playing corridors. The routing moves through arroyos and across ridgelines characteristic of the Mojave Desert landscape. Fairways are bordered by desert scrub, rock outcroppings, and native grasses, requiring accuracy off the tee. The course incorporates the region's dramatic views, with Lake Mead and the surrounding mountains visible from various points on the property. Water features appear on several holes, contrasting with the arid surroundings. Boulder City maintains its small-town character as one of Nevada's few municipalities that prohibits gambling, and the golf club reflects this quieter atmosphere compared to Las Vegas resort courses. The facility serves both residents and visitors seeking desert golf in a less commercialized setting. Conditions can be challenging during summer months when temperatures regularly exceed one hundred degrees, making spring and fall the preferred seasons for play.
