Herbert Fowler, the original architect, crafted a layout in the Golden Age that's both visually stunning and deceptively challenging. The rolling, gorse-lined fairways, carved into the bluffs, demand careful club selection and strategic positioning. While not overly long by modern standards, the prevailing ocean winds and meticulously maintained greens place a premium on shot-making and imagination. A recent restoration by Keith Foster saw the course restored to Fowler's original vision, reclaiming lost angles and subtly enhancing its inherent character. While Eastward Ho! has remained a relatively private enclave, its influence extends beyond the Cape. Its members, drawn from across the country, share a deep appreciation for traditional golf values and the unpretentious camaraderie found within the clubhouse walls.
