Eastward Ho! Country Club

Eastward Ho!, perched high above Pleasant Bay in Chatham, is where the spirit of classic seaside golf collides with panoramic Atlantic vistas. This is where Bobby Jones and his friends came to holiday, as well as golf. Herbert Fowler, the original architect, crafted a layout in the Golden Age that's both visually stunning and deceptively challenging. The rolling, gorse-lined fairways, carved into the bluffs, demand careful club selection and strategic positioning. While not overly long by modern standards, the prevailing ocean winds and meticulously maintained greens place a premium on shot-making and imagination. A recent restoration by Keith Foster saw the course restored to Fowler's original vision, reclaiming lost angles and subtly enhancing its inherent character. While Eastward Ho! has remained a relatively private enclave, its influence extends beyond the Cape. Its members, drawn from across the country, share a deep appreciation for traditional golf values and the unpretentious camaraderie found within the clubhouse walls.
