Deer Valley Course

Deer Valley Golf Course is a public facility located in Barneveld, Wisconsin, a small community in Iowa County roughly thirty miles west of Madison. The course serves the rural southwestern portion of the state, an area characterized by rolling farmland, wooded ridges, and the distinctive topography of the Driftless Area—a region that escaped glaciation and retains its natural hills and valleys. Courses in this part of Wisconsin typically work with more elevation change and natural contour than those in the flatter glaciated regions to the east and north. The layout at Deer Valley reflects the accessible, straightforward design common to many rural Wisconsin public courses developed in the latter half of the twentieth century. Golfers encounter a mix of open and tree-lined holes that follow the land's natural movement, with fairways that often require thoughtful club selection given the terrain. The course provides a traditional parkland experience without extensive water features or severe hazards, emphasizing playability for a wide range of skill levels while still offering enough challenge to keep regular players engaged. Barneveld itself is a quiet agricultural town, and Deer Valley functions as a local recreational amenity rather than a destination facility. The course draws primarily from nearby communities and offers a relaxed, unpretentious atmosphere typical of small-town Midwest golf. Conditions and maintenance reflect the realities of a modest public operation, and the experience centers on straightforward golf in a rural Wisconsin setting.

27 hole small town golf course. Not as big of a fan of the new "Valley" 9. The old 18 has some very interesting holes with a huge drop off short par 3 and a hard starting hole with a straight uphill par 5. Fairly good price to play and easy on and off with it being close to major highway.
