Crenshaw Cliffside Course
Austin, TX, USA

Crenshaw Cliffside, a monument to Texas Hill Country golf, bears the distinctive stamp of Ben Crenshaw's design philosophy. This course, nestled amidst the rolling terrain synonymous with Omni Barton Creek Resort, presents a formidable yet fair test for golfers. It isn't particularly known outside of Texas. The layout favors a strategic approach rather than brute force. Crenshaw Cliffside has generous fairways, yet well-placed bunkers and natural hazards guard the undulating greens, challenging golfers to think their way around the course. The terrain here has many ups and downs in elevation changes from tee to green on several holes. Crenshaw, with his deep reverence for the game's traditions, has carved out a course that blends seamlessly with its natural surroundings, which are more Texas than the Scottish Highlands. While Crenshaw Cliffside may not host major championships, its reputation as a challenging and enjoyable course within the Omni Barton Creek Resort solidifies its place as a regional draw, especially for those seeking a refined Hill Country golf experience. The resort is known for its high end experiences, the property is vast and includes many restaurants and amenities that appeal to families, couples, golf groups and business retreats. It’s also a popular spot for native Austinites to escape the city without ever really leaving.

Golfers say this course offers a solid layout with particular praise for the back nine, which some consider among the best in the area's collection of courses. Most note the routing provides a fun round, though opinions on memorability vary, with at least one reviewer finding the design less distinctive. Reviewers observe that conditioning may have declined from past standards, possibly due to increased play, though the fundamentals of the layout remain appealing. Overall, golfers view this as an underrated option that delivers an enjoyable experience despite not always receiving top recognition.

Course used to be in great shape… I imagine it gets a lot more traffic than the old days but this is a good layout and fun track.
Not a very memorable layout.
Underrated. One of the best back 9s in the BCCC quartet of courses.
