TPC Craig Ranch

TPC at Craig Ranch opened in 2004 as part of a master-planned community in McKinney, a northern suburb of Dallas. Tom Weiskopf designed the course on relatively flat North Texas terrain, incorporating significant earthmoving to create elevation changes and strategic interest across the property. The layout features wide fairways bordered by native grasses and waste areas, with large, undulating greens that reward precise approach play. Water comes into play on several holes, and the course's open character exposes players to the region's persistent winds. The course gained prominence on the PGA TOUR schedule when it began hosting the AT&T Byron Nelson in 2021, replacing Trinity Forest Golf Club as the tournament's venue. This transition brought the Nelson back to a more traditional tournament setting in the Dallas area, where it has rotated among several courses over its long history. The routing allows for strong spectator access and tournament infrastructure, typical of TPC Network facilities designed with professional events in mind. Craig Ranch measures over 7,500 yards from the championship tees, though multiple tee boxes accommodate players of varying abilities. The design emphasizes strategic options off the tee and around the greens, with Weiskopf's characteristic attention to sightlines and natural aesthetics. The course sits within a residential development but maintains separation from housing on many holes, preserving a sense of openness across the property.
