Legends on the Niagara Golf Club

The Chippawa course at Legends on the Niagara Golf Club opened in the mid-1990s as part of a 36-hole facility designed to showcase championship golf in the Niagara region. Douglas Carrick and Thomas McBroom collaborated on this layout, which sits on relatively flat terrain characteristic of the Niagara Peninsula. The course occupies land that was formerly agricultural, and the design incorporates strategic bunkering and water features to define holes and create visual interest across the open landscape. The routing takes advantage of prevailing winds and uses mature tree plantings along fairway corridors to frame play. Water comes into consideration on several holes, reflecting the design philosophy of both architects who favor risk-reward scenarios and clear strategic choices from the tee. The course measures over 7,000 yards from the championship tees and has hosted regional amateur competitions, serving as a test for accomplished players while remaining accessible from forward tees. Legends on the Niagara operates as a public facility and attracts golfers visiting the Niagara Falls area as well as regular play from the surrounding Ontario communities. The Chippawa course shares the property with its companion Battlefield course, also designed by Carrick and McBroom, giving the facility a reputation for offering two distinct but complementary championship experiences. The clubhouse serves both courses and provides standard amenities for daily-fee players and tournament groups.
