Charlie Yates Course
Atlanta, GA, USA

Charlie Yates Golf Course, nestled in the heart of East Lake, echoes with the spirit of its namesake, a local boy who triumphed at the 1938 British Amateur. This charming 9-hole layout provides an accessible gateway to the game, fostering a vibrant community of golfers of all skill levels. Originally designed by John LaFoy, Charlie Yates presents a classic parkland experience. The compact design, with its relatively flat terrain and mature trees framing each hole, rewards strategic play over brute force. Don’t let its unassuming appearance fool you; subtle doglegs and well-placed bunkers demand careful club selection and precise execution to score well. While not a championship venue, Charlie Yates serves as a cherished hub for Atlanta's golfing community. Its unpretentious atmosphere and focus on fun have cultivated a loyal following, particularly among junior golfers and those new to the game. Many locals enjoy the course's proximity to downtown, making it the perfect afternoon escape.

Golfers say Charlie Yates offers a well-maintained, convenient option for a quick nine-hole round in the city. Most praise the course's surprisingly strong layout and architecture for a par-30 track, noting it provides more challenge than expected and represents good value given its location near East Lake Golf Club. Reviewers appreciate recent improvements to the property and find conditioning solid, even during winter months. While some acknowledge it's not a destination-caliber experience, most consider it a fun, accessible choice that exceeds typical expectations for a local public course.
Great course and facilities. Perfect executive course.
Give some love to the hometown local course. Quick and easy walking course. Nothing mind blowing but it is well maintained and offers a good excuse to get out and get some shots in.
Pretty nice set up they have. Course was maintained well, especially for February. Rained a good bit so that made my experience a little lower on the list, still good though. Would recommend
It’s quick, it’s close, it’s fun. It’s not a masterpiece by any stretch of the imagination, but one could ask for much worse from a local public course.
They have done good work improving Charlie Yates over the years. A fun par-30 for an easy afternoon 9 in the city. Layout is sneaky good and challenging. Good value located right next to East Lake Golf Club
Exceptional architecture for a small nine hole course.
