The routing makes use of the property's topography, with several holes playing across or along ridges and others descending into lower ground. Ross incorporated his typical design elements: greens with subtle interior contours and strategic bunkering that rewards accurate approach play. The course measures around 6,400 yards from the back tees, a length that reflects both the original scale of the design and the constraints of the suburban property. Charles River Country Club has maintained a traditional private club atmosphere since its founding.
