Canyon West Course
Weatherford, TX, USA

Canyon West Golf Course opened in Weatherford, Texas, designed by father-and-son team Stan and Wes Mickle. The course occupies rolling terrain west of Fort Worth in Parker County, an area characterized by the transition from North Texas prairie to the more rugged Hill Country topography. The routing takes advantage of natural elevation changes and creek corridors that define the property's character. The layout incorporates the native landscape features common to this region of Texas, including limestone outcroppings, mature oak and mesquite trees, and seasonal water features. The design presents a parkland-style course that works with rather than against the existing land forms, creating variety through changes in elevation and strategic bunkering. Several holes play along or across drainage areas that become more prominent during wetter months. Canyon West serves as a public facility in a region where golf options range from municipal courses to higher-end daily-fee layouts. The course provides a straightforward test for recreational players while offering enough length and challenge from the back tees to engage more accomplished golfers. Weatherford's position roughly thirty miles west of Fort Worth places the course within reach of the Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area while maintaining a more rural setting than courses closer to the urban core.
It’s criminal that they still charge full price for this course. Greens are in HORRIBLE condition. You can tell they’re working to make changes but they still have a good amount of work left to do.
