The topography defines much of the playing character. The exposed position means wind is a regular factor, particularly on holes along the higher sections of the property. The layout includes a mix of shorter holes where accuracy matters more than distance and longer tests where the slopes can assist or penalize depending on ball placement. Bray serves a membership drawn largely from the surrounding Wicklow and south Dublin communities. The club operates as a parkland course with mature tree cover in places, though the upper reaches open to more exposed ground.
