Boot Ranch Course
Fredericksburg, TX, USA

Boot Ranch, carved from the rolling Texas Hill Country near Fredericksburg, doesn't just offer a golf course; it presents a lifestyle steeped in Texan tradition and understated luxury. Here, against a backdrop of ancient oaks and limestone outcroppings, golf becomes an integral part of a multi-generational family experience. Hal Sutton's design, while not aggressively penal, favors strategic shot-making and rewards those who can manage the subtly contoured fairways and approach the greens with the proper angle. The bentgrass surfaces, unusual for this region, demand attention to detail, while the panoramic views often distract from the task at hand. This isn't about brute force, but finesse, as Sutton asks the player to think and feel their way around the course. More than just a celebrated course for its challenging 18 holes, Boot Ranch offers a range of activities including swimming holes, lakes, fishing, and social clubhouses. It is perhaps best known, however, for its familial bent; parents and grandparents often bring their children and grandchildren to enjoy the Hill Country experience. The club is an antidote to the ostentatious; the focus is on the land, the game, and the company.

Immaculate facilities, immaculate service, immaculate conditions. This course gets better as you go, 1-3 are meh, but the rest of the holes are tons of fun. Windy day that made it feel like 25Β° all day, but tons of fun at this place.
Boot Ranch is as good as it gets. You hit every club in the bag, have different and challenging lies, and a good amount of birdie chances. You could play Boot every day and not get bored. Great staff and a good variety of holes.
