BIG SKY GOLF & COUNTRY CLUB
🇨🇦 Pemberton, British Columbia, CA
Designed by Bob Cupp

Big Sky Golf Club, carved into the Pemberton Valley floor, owes its very existence to a local lumber baron's vision of a world-class course amidst the shadow of Mount Currie. This Robert Cupp design, opened in 1994, embraces its parkland setting with sprawling fairways framed by mature forests and the ever-present, glacially-fed Lillooet River winding its way throughout. Errant tee shots are often forgiven due to the course's generosity from the tee, but Cupp's strategic bunkering and subtly undulating greens place a premium on accurate approach play.
While not steeped in tournament history, Big Sky serves as a beloved battleground for local and regional amateur events. The relatively benign rough and lack of truly penal hazards make it a fair test for golfers of all skill levels, fostering a relaxed atmosphere where enjoyment of the stunning natural surroundings takes precedence over cutthroat competition.
Beyond the golf, Big Sky boasts a devoted membership drawn from the surrounding communities and Whistler resort crowd. Tales of post-round gatherings on the patio, fueled by local craft beers and hearty pub fare, are as much a part of the club's identity as the challenging par-5s. This isn’t just a golf course; it’s a social hub where mountain life and the love of the game intertwine.
