Chenal Country Club

The Bear Den at Chenal Country Club is a Robert Trent Jones, Jr. design that opened in the mid-1990s as part of a larger residential development in west Little Rock. Jones collaborated with associates Donald Knott and Gary Linn on the routing, which occupies rolling terrain characteristic of the Ouachita foothills region. The course takes its name from the natural topography and wooded character of the property, where elevation changes and mature hardwoods define much of the playing corridors. The layout reflects Jones's signature approach to strategic design, with generous landing areas balanced by well-positioned hazards that reward precise shot placement. Water features come into play on several holes, and the greens typically offer multiple pin positions that can significantly alter hole difficulty. The routing moves through varied terrain, with some holes playing along ridgelines and others descending into lower-lying areas where creeks and wetlands add both scenic and strategic interest. Chenal Country Club operates as a private facility serving the residential community, with the Bear Den functioning as one of two courses on the property. The club provides traditional country club amenities including dining and social programs for its membership. The course has hosted regional amateur competitions and serves as a daily venue for member play in the Little Rock area, where it represents one of the more substantial private club layouts in central Arkansas.
