The routing takes advantage of the site's topography, with holes playing across ridges and through natural corridors of pine and juniper. Views extend westward toward the Three Sisters and other Cascade peaks, a backdrop common to Bend-area courses but particularly prominent from Awbrey Glen's higher vantage points. The design incorporates the region's native grasses and lava rock features, reflecting the high desert environment that defines golf in central Oregon. Awbrey Glen operates as a private club serving its residential membership. The course represents one of several upscale golf communities that developed in the Bend area during the region's growth period in the 1990s and early 2000s, when the city emerged as a destination for outdoor recreation and resort living.
