Cimarron National Golf Club

Aqua Canyon is one of two eighteen-hole courses at Cimarron National Golf Club in Guthrie, Oklahoma, designed by Duffy Martin. The facility sits in the rolling terrain north of Oklahoma City, where the landscape transitions from prairie to more varied topography. Martin, who has designed several courses across Oklahoma and the surrounding region, routed Aqua Canyon to work with the natural contours and native vegetation characteristic of central Oklahoma. The course takes its name from the water features and canyon-like landforms that define several holes. The routing moves through elevation changes that are significant for the region, with fairways that follow ridgelines and drop into lower corridors. Native grasses and stands of oak and cedar frame many holes, giving the course a more rugged character than the flatter agricultural land common in much of the state. Cimarron National operates as a semi-private facility, offering both member and daily-fee play. The club serves golfers from the Oklahoma City metro area and travelers passing through on Interstate 35, which runs near Guthrie. The town itself has historical significance as Oklahoma's first capital, and the golf complex has become a regional destination for groups and tournaments. Aqua Canyon shares the property with the club's second course, Cimarron, providing variety for members and visitors who play multiple rounds at the facility.
