MEDINAH COUNTRY CLUB
🇺🇸 Medinah, IL, USA
Designed by Tom Bendelow

Medinah Country Club's Course #2 occupies the same expansive property in the western Chicago suburbs as its more famous sibling, Course #3. Tom Bendelow designed the original layout in the 1920s as part of the Shriners' ambitious three-course complex. The course shares the rolling, wooded terrain characteristic of the Medinah grounds, with mature trees lining fairways and several elevation changes that add strategic interest to what might otherwise be relatively straightforward midwestern parkland golf.
Course #2 has undergone modifications over the decades, though it maintains a more understated profile than its championship neighbor. The routing moves through similar landscape—dense stands of hardwoods, occasional water features, and the kind of tree-lined corridors that define classic Chicago-area courses. The layout serves primarily as a members' course, offering a less demanding but still engaging test of golf compared to the tournament-caliber challenges of Course #3.
The course functions as an integral part of Medinah's multi-course operation, providing members with variety and additional playing opportunities. While it lacks the tournament pedigree and national recognition of Course #3, it represents the kind of solid, playable design that Bendelow produced throughout the Midwest during golf's early expansion era. The setting within Medinah's extensive grounds gives the course a secluded, parkland character that appeals to members seeking a more relaxed round.
