ZANESVILLE COUNTRY CLUB
🇺🇸 Zanesville, OH, USA
Designed by Chick Evans, Donald Ross

Established in 1927, Zanesville Country Club stands as a testament to enduring Midwestern golf traditions. Carved into the rolling hills just outside Zanesville, Ohio, the course presents a classic parkland layout, characterized by tree-lined fairways and subtly undulating greens.
Originally designed by architect Herbert Strong, whose name graces a number of well regarded East Coast clubs, Zanesville emphasizes strategic play over sheer power. Its design features a mix of doglegs, demanding approaches, and deceptively contoured putting surfaces that keep golfers engaged from tee to green. While the course has seen subtle refinements over the years, its core Golden Age principles remain intact, offering a timeless challenge.
Zanesville maintains a strong local presence. The club itself is known regionally for its welcoming atmosphere and particularly tight-knit membership, a blend of established families and rising professionals. The annual Muskingum County Amateur often draws a competitive field, though the club's true charm lies in its role as a community hub. And rumor has it that the club's fish fry on Friday nights is a can't miss event.
Reviews
I am fortunate to be able to play here often. Really solid Donald Ross design through and through. If you aren’t hitting (the narrow) fairways, the rough will eat you alive. The replay rating on this course is off the charts. Super fun track!
